QUEBEC,
CANADA
The province of Quebec
captivates visitors with its magic. Charming traditional
cities coupled with modern amenities amidst picturesque
scenery are all elements that have added in the creation
of this extraordinary region. Visitors can lose themselves
in history, dine in the finest restaurants, or relax
in virtual seclusion.
In a land twice the size of Texas it is easy to understand
the diverse landscapes to be encountered upon arriving
in Quebec. The vast area is composed of tundra, taiga
and boreal forest and is laced together by thousands
of rivers and lakes. At the heart of this province
is the great St. Lawrence River, pulsating and carving
its way through the terrain. Quebec is also home to
some of the oldest mountains in the world known as
the Laurentians.
In addition to possessing a varied landscape, the
climate is also varying. There are three distinctly
different climates beginning with a humid one caused
by the overhang of boreal forest. There is also a sub
arctic climate in the taiga region and in the tundra
region the weather is artic. The southernmost region
sees the most volatile change in temperature. The summer
is warm and the sun shine extreme, while the winter
brings tremendous snow and plummeting temperatures.
In autumn, the colors change while the leaves fall
and the spring brings in a warm breeze as all the flowers
bloom.
The scenic wilderness, friendly residents and diverse
municipalities have made Quebec one of the most visited
regions on the continent. It is easy to see how the
charms of rural life coupled with the advantages of
urban living have managed to create such a spectacular
Canadian getaway.
