Notre
Dame Basilica
If you have never been to Notre Dame in Paris, this
is the most comparable cathedral. One of the largest
churches on the continent, it is not to be missed. In
addition to its great stature, it also possesses one
of the world’s largest pipe organs. A spectacular
historical monument, it is also one of Montreal’s
finest attractions.
Montreal
Botanical Gardens
Founded in 1931, the Montreal Botanical Gardens is still
one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Home
to over 21,000 different types and species of plants,
it is also one of the largest. Amazingly, there are
thirty different theme gardens targeting different cultures
such as the French and Japanese, as well as topics like
poisonous plants and exhibition green houses. These
gardens are not only esthetically pleasing, but educational
as well. There are a team of scientists, botanists and
horticulturalists that work behind the scenes to provide
as much information as possible to interested visitors.
Open 365 days a year and offering plenty of exhibitions,
it is a proud attribution to the residents of Montreal.
La Ronde/parc des Iles
In the middle of the St. Lawrence River lie a group
of islands known as La Ronde. This is the site of many
festivals and is also the setting of a large amusement
park. The Olympic Stadium was built here in addition
to many restaurants and museums. If nightlife is what
you’re after, the island even boasts a casino!
Montreal Casino
The Montreal Casino is one of the largest casinos in
the world! It captures all the excitement, all the drama,
all the international allure of the world-class city
that is its home: Montreal. Likewise, the casino spares
no effort to ensure you the thrill of a lifetime and
unforgettable memories.
Old Montreal
Discover the city’s oldest district with its wealth
of history and architecture unique to North America,
a variety of museums, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants.
Other attractions included in the old port will please
the whole family: IMAX (3-D movies on a giant screen),
bateau mouche cruises and the site of several summer
and winter festivals. There’s also the SOS Labyrinth
which is great for kids, cycling and rollerblading.
In addition, don’t miss the Lachine Canal with
its 8.7 miles (14 km) of recreational paths. Old Montreal
is located about five minutes away from the Fairmont
Queen Elizabeth.
