Calgary
Stampede
Known to many as “Cowtown”, Calgary lives
up to its nickname during this festival. This metropolitan
city is transformed once a year for ten days in a tribute
to the Wild West. Millions of visitors are treated to
a celebration in cowboy culture through activities such
as real rodeos, shows, a midway and much more. The city
comes alive as the friendly attitudes of the locals
add to the jovial atmosphere of this event.
Glenbow
Museum
This museum is home to nearly 30,000 artworks and other
artifacts that encompass contemporary, modern and historic
works. Exhibits on display often change regularly, though
three floors of the museum feature permanent displays
of native history and culture. Here, visitors can learn
about the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway
and the European settlement. A library, archives center,
café and museum gift shop are also housed in
the Glenbow, the largest museum in Western Canada.
