Maligne
Lake
From relaxing cruises to Spirit Island, and a peaceful
row in a rented canoe to the exhilaration of white water
rafting, and anticipation of a great catch, visitors
have their choice of adventures. A huge attraction in
Jasper National park, Maligne Lake offers an audacious
alternative to the monotonous vacation.
Althabasca
Falls
The force behind these tremendous falls has funneled
over time into a narrow canyon and has impressively
cut new paths through the quartz-rich sandstone. These
viewpoints are not to be missed.
Skiing
Marmot Basin is the closest Jasper ski area. Boasting
75 named trails, open bowl skiing, uncrowded groomed
slopes, superb facilities, and more than 1,500 acres
of ski able terrain, Marmot Basin offers something for
everyone! The ski area's modern lift system carries
11,931 skiers uphill per hour and Marmot Basin is one
of the least uninhabited ski areas of its size in all
of North America. From long, gentle winding novice runs,
to steep, high alpine bowls and chutes, skiers and snowboarders
of all abilities will find what they are looking for
at Marmot Basin. Marmot Basin is located only 11 miles
(19 km) from The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Rentals,
ski shop and daycare are available at the hill.

Columbia
Icefields
The largest icefield south of Alaska, shimmering glacial
ice and snow cover some 389 sq. km. An exciting 55 minute
Snowcoach Tour will take you out onto the Athabasca
Glacier, a tongue of the Columbia Icefield, for an awe-inspiring
glimpse of icy crevasses and ice-fed streamlets. Or,

Interpretive Center for informative exhibits and slide
